This custom kitchen It has the flavor of authentic things thanks to the use of reclaimed woods in its furniture. Its design is the work of Katrin Arens, A German interior designer and designer based in Italy, who has spent twenty years giving new life to discarded materials by applying them to the creation of furniture and objects. Long before sustainability was the norm, and the use of reclaimed wood was common in new designs.

In fact, the design of the drawers and furniture in this kitchen are reminiscent of the Hauka kitchen that we could see in the latest edition of Casa Decor.

In addition to the particularity of reclaimed wood kitchen furniture, it is worth paying attention to your countertop. Not so much for its aesthetics, in stainless steel, but for the multifunctional design that includes ad hoc spaces to store the most frequent kitchen accessories.

The extra bottom of the worktop (it is probably 70 cm instead of 60 cm) allows you to have a space in the kitchen area to store the wooden spoons and kitchen knives on the bottom.

Behind the sink there is a practical drying rack and a hole to leave the kitchen tables. All these hollow containers allow to have all kitchen utensils by hand, but without loading the counter. In a clean and discreet way, some custom-made holes have been included in its bottom that are used so that the most used objects in the kitchen are very close at hand if they occupy visual space.

The patina of reclaimed wood in the furniture, the steel worktop and the handles achieves a somewhat industrial effect in the kitchen. The hardness of this style it is softened with the shelves of golden rails and glass envelopes.

A mixture that results in a practical, artisanal cuisine with a lot of personality, which a Florentine family, regular clients of Katrin, enjoy at their summer house in Sardinia.

Detail of the fires, which as it could not be otherwise in an Italian family includes gas fires.

Gas cookers are still the favorites of those who cook the most and the protagonists in the most avant-garde cookers
