Day (I don’t know how many) of confinement. We have already talked a lot about teleworking, the balconies and terraces and even the bedrooms that we are rediscovering because it is the space of the house that finds a little privacy during the day. Now it’s our turn review the room in more detail.
The living room or living room is the room to which the most money and effort is usually spent in decoration because it is the most public space in the house – where people are received – and at the same time, it is the space that is designed as our recreational space at home.
In the absence of a terrace and balcony, or despite this but due to bad weather, the living room is surely the space in which you are making the most life and, if at this point you are not planning to redesign or change the furniture, it will be a good sign. But it is possible that at this point you have removed some furniture from the living room because it hinders you, or on the contrary you may be missing something and you may not know very well what.
Before considering a change, check if your living room meets the basic rules of proportion and color And, if you include all the elements that never fail to create a good foundation.
1. Carpet
A good way to gain comfort in the living room is to have a good carpet that frames this area and which includes the sofa, tables, armchairs etc …. The carpet is essential unless we are at 40º outside, even more so with ceramic floors where the living room will gain in warmth. And attention to the size of the carpet.
The proportion is important and here better than not missing the carpet must include at least the length of the sofa and better if 50-60 cm are left on the sides to collect the armchairs and poufs.
Jute rugs are neutral and warm, perfect for those who do not want to risk with colors, and the Beri-style Beni Ouarain rugs give light to the floor (perfect for living rooms with dark floors because they will give light).

2. The coffee table. If it is large and bothersome, replace it with several small ones.
If you can’t circulate around the sofa or even cross to the other side because of the coffee table, it doesn’t work. If the room space is not large, better replace the large table with several easy to move side tables. They will leave the space to breathe and you can remove and move them to use the ground for a playground, sport, etc …

3. Lamps in all corners
The lighting in the living room should not be limited to general lighting (ceiling). You always have to have light in practically every corner. Floor or table lamps will create more pleasant atmospheres at nightfall as well as being one more decorative element.

4. Plants
If you go over the most beautiful rooms with details, you will see that there are usually no plants missing. Around here we like to get maximalistic with this plant, but it is not necessary.
Single one and large will fill your living room with life and, if possible, best in a corner near a window. Take the opportunity to put a nice planteror, in terracotta finishes reinforcing the natural or white style to continue giving light to rooms that need it.
You will surely hit the Ficus Lyrata tree, a beautiful Monstera or a banana tree.

5.- Do not forget the walls
A very frequent mistake in decoration is that it is limited from 0 to 75 cm, which is the height of a sofa, a table, a chair … Ignoring the space that exists from 75 cm to 2.40 cm, which has the average height of ceilings.
By now you must know if you have confinement some very empty wall that is asking to be decorated. Or if the light at certain times is reflected in a corner where you could place a mirror to reflect it and flood the room. Remember also that the wall on which a sofa rests is a space where things can and should happen.

6. Don’t underestimate the power of cushions.
It seems easy to choose cushions or plaids for the sofa but it is not so much. With a good selection you can transform the look of the sofa or vice versa, if you choose wrong, the result will remain flat and bland.
Consider the contrasts. Light up a dark sofa that cushions light colors and if it can be with colors that are in another point of the room like in some picture, plaid or carpet or plaid. The reverse rule is for light sofas and it is also important to pay attention to the textures of the cushions. In winter they can be velvet, fur or wool and in summer linen and cotton.
