At Decoesfera we are very fans of Nordic design, and in particular, Danish design. Thats why he space of the Danish embassy in Spain in Casa Decor, designed by Erico Navazo, has fascinated us from minute zero for the harmony, for the chosen pieces, and for the abundance of small details …
Baptized as’Danish Living & New Bauhaus‘, this space, located on the top floor of the Casa de Tomás Allende and located next to the terrace designed by Alter Espacio, is one of the essential spaces in this edition.
In space, Erico Navazo has brought together iconic pieces from the Midcentuty’s Danish design greats, with new and young values. Everything under the umbrella of craftsmanship, comfort and functionality that characterizes the best design of this northern European country.
Navazo’s project is timeless and enveloping, integrating natural materials such as wood, marble, leather or wool, with new materials such as recycled plastic, thus combining respect for tradition and sustainability.
A comfortable and sophisticated hall
The area of the Danish embassy is made up of three spaces. The first of them is a small and sophisticated hall that acts as an anteroom and that takes us to a modern apartment in the Danish capital.
Among the elements that stand out in this area, the walls upholstered in natural wool stand out. Gabriel Fabrics, or the spectacular sideboard designed by Hans J. Wegner to Carl Hansen & Son.
The hand-woven rug is made of Massimo Copenhagen, and on it, Erico Navazo has installed a Carimate armchair, designed by Vico Magistretti to Fritz Hansen, and an avant-garde upholstered armchair, Friends & Founders.
A dining kitchen in detail
Once we have passed through the hall, we arrive at the kitchen-dining area. The kitchen couldn’t be more adorable, with that mint green hue. The kitchen, from the firm KVIKMade of wood and recycled materials, it is a clear example of Nordic style.
In the dining area, a marble and stainless steel table stands out. Fritz Hansen, accompanied by wooden chairs, Carl Hansen & Son. The set also highlights a waitress and two chairs in oak wood and paper strings, in BrDr-Krüger. To finish off the space, highlights the Mid-Century brass lamp reissued by Lyfa, and the VELUX window system.
The living room, the jewel in the crown
And if you liked what you’ve seen so far, wait until you discover the lounge area. Once you go up through the original staircase of the house, with its lovely mesh railing and decorated with File Under Pop tiles, the circular room appears splendid, located in the tower of the Casa de Tomás Allende.
In this space, Erico Navazo has arranged the furniture surrounding the central space of the tower. Presiding over the room, a bio-fireplace in black iron that is inspired by the traditional Danish fireplaces, designed by Le Feu, and which is framed by natural stone from Cosentino.
Without a doubt, the protagonists of the space are the spectacular wooden sideboards found from Bolia. Also noteworthy are the iconic Wishbone chairs, designed by Hans J. Wegner to Carl Hansen, in oiled walnut and natural rope; a contemporary armchair, of Friends & Founders.
In the space we can also see a modern Bolia sofa, with cushions of Gabriel Fabrics and blankets of Silkeborg, that invite you to sit placidly in front of the fire, and a camel leather armchair, Carl Hansen;
To complete the space, we see a hand-woven carpet in wool and bamboo, in Massimo Copenhagen, different auxiliary furniture of F&F, Bolia, BrDr-Krüger, wireless speakers Bang & Olufen or the delicate decorative objects, Bloomingville. And finishing off the space, an elegant Artichoke lamp by Louis Poulsen.
