The first rule to keep in mind before approaching the world of interior design is that there are no fixed rules in interior design. Any environment should be comfortable and full of objects and furniture that you love and that truly reflect your tastes. Of course, it is not as easy as it might seem and often those who find themselves having to furnish an entire apartment can risk having a lot of confusion and indecision.Creating welcoming environments in harmony with everyone’s tastes and desires is not always easy. But with a few small tricks you can create spaces that are beautiful to look at, but above all functional. So here are ours five simple tips to furnish your home.
Don’t focus on one style
To have welcoming and pleasant environments it is better do not follow a single line of furniture: combine languages and mix elements of different styles to make each environment more interesting. Often, following only one style, people tend to exaggerate. It’s nice to follow your taste, but if, for example, you fill the living room only with white shabby chic furniture, the ensemble may look monotonous and not very personal. So, start with your favorite décor style, but try to add a personal touch with elements from other stylistic expressions.

Choose a focal point
Few people will be able to feel comfortable in a room full of furniture and objects. If there are too many things to look at, the eye will not know where to rest, creating confusion. So decide right from the start what the focal point of the room will be and organize the furniture around it.

Live the house and decorate slowly
Decorate slowly. Try to live the environments before making furniture decisions. Take your time and buy a little at a time: this will allow you to evaluate how each piece fits the environment and to reflect before adding another, so as to understand if you really need something new. Sometimes, you realize that you can reuse a piece you already had, perhaps recovered in the attic or at grandmother’s house. Other times, you just need to add new textiles or move furniture.

Take the architecture into account
There is no need to transform an environment into something it is not. Highlight the strengths of your home’s architecture (whether it’s beams, large windows or maybe a nice fireplace) and don’t try to make it look totally different from what it is, just because it’s not in line with your ideal home.

Personal, functional and illuminated environments
Finally, make sure that every room in your home best expresses your personality, but that at the same time it is also functional to everyday life and well lit, which never hurts for a good mood.
