Every year Ikea goes beyond its limits by seeking collaborations with internationally renowned designers that bring new stimuli to its continuous research in the field of design.
For 2021, the proposal very innovative involves the talented Lebanese artist Nada Debs, who currently lives and works in Beirut, after growing up in Japan and earning a degree in design from the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States.
His work ranges from interior design (including furniture production to order) fashionable and to art more generally. Having spent much of her life traveling, she has come into contact with numerous different cultures, which manages to reproduce in his works joining different traditions and aesthetics. In his own words, his work is “handmade with heart”.

Typical elements of the Middle Eastern style are the colors of the earth rendered bright and lively, the geometric arabesques and the glitter of mirrors and lights. There is no shortage of carpets and comfortable pillows, even on the ground. The materials are natural wood and perforated and / or punched metal. Finally, the majolica of the famous Iznik ceramics, in all shades of blue.
Instead, the Scandinavian style typical of the leader of low-cost furniture Ikea stands out for its clean lines, the essential forms and the sought-after harmony between aesthetics and functionality. Here too the use of light wood predominates, in this case, however, combined with white or in any case light shades. A piece of furniture of this kind is minimalist and elegant.
In the work of the designer Nada Debs, the encounter between the two themes arises precisely from the union of the simple and clean lines of Nordic design with the Levantine geometric patterns, both in the fabrics and in the surfaces. Indeed, the LJUVARE collection (whose name comes from a Swedish term meaning Delicious) includes tableware, textiles and lanterns. In fact, in Italy it will not be distributed in all its pieces; coffee tables and various other furnishing accessories are missing. Let’s see together those currently available.
Lights and lanterns
Unmissable in the evenings of oriental nights, the lights of the candles inside the lanterns create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. With these intentions they were created the 32 cm candle lantern and the candle holder available in three different sizes and heights, both in gold color. The golden shades are a symbol of wealth and the designer Nada Debs wanted to take up this element of the Middle Eastern tradition and beyond.

Through the geometric pattern engraved in the metal, also typical of traditional brass objects, the light diffuses in a soft way, immediately bringing to mind the fables of Sherazade.
These are decorative objects in all respects, which will give character to the environment even during the day, when the candle inside them is extinguished. The luster of the metal contributes to this.

As we have already said, embroidered textiles and more are a must have of the oriental style. That’s why in the new LJUVARE limited edition collection they could not miss pillow covers and table fabrics.

The modern reinterpretation of classic fabrics with geometric patterns it has given life to perfectly matching fantasies in a house already furnished with its predominant style; obviously, they go perfectly with the Scandinavian one.
