With the arrival of the new year, it is time to change something in our life. Why not start with the furniture? If you too are fascinated by the industrial style, but have not yet found the courage to dare, here are some useful tips for decorating the bedroom.
The origins of the industrial style
The industrial style was born in the 1950s in New York with the recovery of large abandoned spaces, such as factories and industries, brought back to life thanks to the innovative minds of designers and architects. The success of the industrial style was consecrated by the films and TV series set in those spaces, not to mention the famous The Factory, the art studio inaugurated by Andy Warhol in 1962, which was located on the fifth floor of an old Manhattan building.
Rough floors like in the factory
But how can you restore the atmosphere of an industrial space to your bedroom? Let’s start with the floor, preferably in concrete, or in rough wood or porcelain stoneware: the basic idea is in fact to remain faithful to the original elements of the factories.

Walls in their natural state
Even the claddings must recall the bare walls of the 1950s factories, which is why we advise you to leave the exposed bricks or walls in their raw state. For those who do not want to incur major renovations, it is also possible to apply fake bricks to the wall. Another element of strong visual impact, much loved in the industrial style, is stone.
The bed without structure
Let’s now move on to the focal point of the room, which is obviously the bed. On the market there are several models that fully represent the industrial style. Among the most interesting proposals, there is that of the bed without structure, where the mattress rests directly on a hidden base made of pallets, which can in turn be enhanced with the right lighting.

Play with the furniture
After bed and upholstery, it’s time to think about furniture, wardrobes and bedside tables. The basic rule is that the furniture adapts well to the bed you have chosen with the possibility of varying the materials, for example, wood and wrought iron, without falling into the error of mixing too many different elements. You can, for example, choose bedside tables and wardrobe in raw wood, with metal interiors.

Lights to enhance the elements
The industrial style includes a few elements with simple and rigorous lines. For this reason, light plays a fundamental role in enhancing the few elements with which you have chosen to furnish your bedroom. One of the great classics are spotlights, to be placed, for example, above the wardrobe, or in place of the classic abatjour on the bedside table. If, on the other hand, you prefer a chandelier, opt for iron structures, essential and geometric, to finish off with a few exposed bulbs.
