Loft, what a passion. This housing solution is now increasingly popular with young and old alike: trendy, bright and perfect even for smaller sizes. In a few years, the loft model has supplanted the old square and regular floor plans of the apartments of the past. Still, it takes careful planning when it comes to lofts and, for this reason, it is good to listen and follow the advice of the experts. Eleonora Valle, designer and Art Director for onefinestay, has revealed 7 tricks to furnish a loft without errors and with a lot of style.
1. Think before you act

Furnishing a loft is not easy at all: on the one hand it can be 100% customized while on the other it risks leaving us too much freedom in too large spaces. Precisely for this reason it is good to design a loft by playing with spaces and heights: choose a color palette and divide them according to the function you want to assign to the room. Position the lighting at different heights in order to give the right amount of light to all environments. Also don’t forget to play with furniture and their shapes, which are also useful for delimiting spaces.
2. Make an effort to divide spaces (without walls)

To divide spaces it is not essential to use walls and, for this reason, it is good to strive to find alternative solutions that can define and delimit the various rooms of the house. Not to be underestimated is the use of the plasterboard false ceiling: the lowering will allow you to visually delimit the spaces. Another solution, for fabric lovers, is to use rugs to give each space its function.
3. Materials can make a difference

Lofts can often feel cold and without personality and, for this very reason, the right materials can make a difference and transform this former industrial space into a warm and welcoming home. Yes to the mix of wood and concrete, but also to the use of curtains to divide and enrich the space. Don’t forget also the colors for walls and objects: they will make the difference and give character to the house.
4. Loft, not just for singles

Too often, families tend to discard lofts as a type of apartment intended for singles or, at most, couples. Yet, it is precisely inside a loft that families will be able to find the desire to get together and be together, perhaps around a strategic point such as the kitchen island.
5. Password: eco-friendly

Today it is impossible to talk about the house without thinking about the plants that will make our space greener and, at the same time, they will furnish according to the trends of the moment. If you have chosen to live in a loft, plants with large and abundant foliage are the right choice to place in the brightest corners of your open space. Are you looking for movement? Opt for a mix of plants with different shapes and species.
6. Light, never without

The trend of the year, which you absolutely cannot miss, is about natural light: the more the better. The large windows will be the protagonists of the spaces and must blend in the best way with the style and furnishings of the loft.
7. Telling life and travels through the house
The home is our safe place and it is the environment that most tells about us and our experiences such as, for example, travel. Learn to collect small pieces of furniture, accessories or objects without ever forgetting the common thread and style that unites your home.
