Today, June 8, World Ocean Day is celebrated around the world. Becoming aware of the need to take care of the great expanses of water on the planet is an obligation for everyone and any small step that can be taken in this regard is always positive. Aerelle® Blue by ADVANSA, is a fiber of padding for mattresses, duvets and pillows produced from plastic recycling, thus avoiding the flow of plastic waste to the oceans, one of the most urgent environmental problems of our time.
Aerelle® Blue polyester fiber not only contributes to keeping the oceans clean, it is an ideal fiber to achieve the best of dreams since it is an extremely soft and comfortable filler that maintains its shape and generates a balanced microclimate. And it’s being marketed on pillows and duvets from the “Ocean Protect” range Mash®.
For years ADVANSA has developed an exhaustive and firm sustainability strategy that has led it to create a collaboration agreement with Plastic Bank in order to reuse the collected plastic before it reaches rivers and oceans. The objective of this social project is to help prevent and reduce the flow of plastic waste to our oceans or beaches, in coastal regions that do not have efficient and formal waste or recycling systems, while opening new opportunities for people who they live in poverty.
Aerelle® Blue high-tech filler fibers are made from recycled plastic flakes at the ADVANSA factory in Germany. Subsequently, the Spanish company Mash® uses these polyester fibers in the manufacture of high-quality Nordic pillows and duvets in the “Ocean Protect” product range. In fact, the Mash® “Ocean Protect” pillow has been chosen by consumers Product of the Year in 2020, with the Grand Prize for Innovation in the pillow category. As for the prices, the 40×70 cm amohada costs 38 euros and the 150×200 cm quilt 86 euros seem affordable.
There are other initiatives in this regard, for example the collection of rugs made from recycled plastic Green Decore for sale on Amazon, depending on the size there are designs from 47 euros and have the advantage that they can be used both indoors and outdoors.
