From 12 September until 8 November 2009, the Casa del Mantegna to Mantua will host the anthological exhibition Angelo Mangiarotti, by the Milanese architect born in 1921. About eighty drawings, photographs and models, to tell the story of the completed projects by the master in an entire career, between design, architecture and sculpture.
Angelo Mangiarotti is one of the most prestigious names in the panorama of Italian architecture and design. A real piece of history, which at the age of eighty-eight represents a living archive of information, projects, ideas as well as a forge of creativity in constant ferment.
His name has marked the Italian design of the last fifty years, thanks to his illustrious collaborations with companies such as Baleri Italia, Cassina, Lema, Molteni, Olivari, Poltronova, Pozzi & Verga, Skipper, Snaidero, Sorgente del mobile, Tisettanta , Zanotta, not to mention the many architectural works created over the years.
His brilliant career has often led him to know and collaborate with Frank Lloyd Wright, Walter Gropius, Mies van der Rohe and Konrad Wachsmann, and to deepen studies on design in every part of the world.
Mantua then decides to celebrate this mythical character of Italian design, awarded last May by Verona Architects Award 2009, with a special exhibition, which will remain open until the beginning of October, and which is hosted in a location of excellence, namely the Casa del Mantegna. What better tribute for an artist!
Through his original drawings, photos and models, the projects and ideas of the master will be illustrated to the public, from which emerge his studies and his reflections on plastic research, on the quality of the material, on the module and on ergonomic shapes.
A truly unmissable event for all Mangiarotti fans, but also for all those who love Made in Italy design.
