Vincenzo Latina is a Sicilian architect who conquered the Gold Medal for Architecture award 2012 for a project completed in 2011. The work for which he was awarded the coveted prize is the Pavilion for accessing the Artemision excavations. It is a small building, site on the island of Ortigia, which highlights the temple of Artemis.
The jury chose Vincenzo Latina ‘for his ability to intervene on the remains of ancient buildings to regenerate them, so as to restore life to a memory that would be destined to end. In the choice of this project we want to testify the great ability of Italian architecture to intervene using the resources available despite the difficulties of the context ‘.
