Yes, the cold is here. It is time to start heating, fireplaces, dust off the blankets for the sofa and get a good Nordic comforter.
This bedding, the most modern and useful solution to fight the cold at night, is pleasant, light and very versatile thanks to the duvet covers that allow us to change the style of the room whenever we want.
But, How can we know which type of Nordic suits us best? To answer this question and know a little more about this winter bedding we have been with the team of The Mallorcan.
Two qualities of Nordics
How is it with the comforters, the Nordic fillings could be differentiated in two qualities: feather and synthetic fiber. Both types are lighter than bedspreads or comforters, and they adapt very well to the body, favoring the formation of an air chamber that conserves the heat we give off.
To choose the Nordic filling that best suits our needs, we have to take into account the size of the bed, the composition, the weight and the way of making it.
Nordic feathers
This type of Nordic, known as natural, has a filling that is composed of bird feathers, usually ducks or geese. The down or duvet is the snowflake, the lightest part of the pen, and provides insulating and perspiration capacity.
The most advisable thing is that the preparation of these allows to create wide squares to form air chambers inside the quilt so that all the filling is distributed proportionally and empty areas that do not isolate are not formed.
Further, Nordic down fill maintenance is very economical, since it is enough to air it at the end of the season, store it in a cloth bag and dry clean it before it turns four.
These types of fillings are also known as Nordic fiber or microfiber. This type of filling is manufactured with soft and light fabrics, treated to preserve the inner fiber in perfect conditions. The fiber is arranged to facilitate air circulation and reduce the appearance of moisture.
And what Nordic is ideal for me?
The Nordics have different thermal levels, And here we have the key to see which model is the one that best suits our needs, depending on where we live and how warm the house is.
The Nordic stuffed with 125 gr./m2 They are ideal for areas with hot temperatures, or hot people. They are also very advisable for the autumn months, months in which the cold is still not very intense. If the house is equipped with heating (especially if it is central), it can also be a good choice.
Nordic stuffed with 300 gr./m2 They are perfect for areas with cold climates or unconditioned houses at bedtime. In addition, there are models such as Nordic DUO which are composed of 2 fillings. One of 250 gr./m2 and another of 125 gr./m2, joined by square brackets that can be used together or separately throughout the year depending on the degree of heat you need.
Maintenance of synthetic Nordics
To perfectly preserve synthetic Nordics you have to air them a little every morning so they lose moisture accumulated at night. Following this practice you only have to wash them once a season.
To wash them, you have to keep in mind that they can go to the washing machine, although you have to use mild detergents and never at high temperatures. In addition, you have to make sure it dries well, because if there is any moisture left inside it can be damaged.
