Announced in 2007, the complex suffered severe slowdowns due to the crisis, which postponed the inauguration, initially from 2012 to 2015 and finally to 2017. Mohamed Khalifa Al-Mubarak, president of the Tourism and Culture Authority of Abu Dhabi announced that the Louvre of Abu Dhabi it will be a universal museum, therefore a meeting point between eastern and western culture. The target? To place the capital of the Arab Emirates at the center of the international art scene.

The Museum is a real architectural masterpiece. The protagonist of the scene is the silver dome which, with its 180 meters in diameter, dominates the entire structure. The complex geometry, made up of almost 8000 metallic stars, lets the sunlight penetrate, projecting it both inside and outside, through star-shaped light beams, which vary according to the time and season. At the same time, the 8 layers of steel protect the structure from the prohibitive temperatures of the desert.
“The Louvre Abu Dhabi will open in two months after eleven years of studies and construction, guests will enter a place of light, a revelatory meeting place of a planetary number of cultures spanning seas and centuries.
