The works by Zaha Hadid, archistar who has signed projects in Worldwide, have revolutionized the concept of contemporary design. The designer has created some of the most beautiful buildings ever and for some of these she has even obtained several awards. She was, in fact, the first woman to win the Pritzker Prize, like a Nobel or an Oscar, and has also won, for two consecutive years, the Stirling Award: the first time in 2010 for the famous MAXXI in Rome and the following year for the Evelyn Grace Academy, made in London.
The architect has not only won the famous Pritzker Prize but also the gold medal of Royal Institute of British Architects, another international recognition in her field, and once again the first woman to win it. His fame, however, came with the Vitra Fire Station in Weil Am Rhein in Germany, made in 1993, and, later, with the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati in 2003, the Guangzhou Opera House in China of 2010 and theHeydar Aliyev Center in Baku in 2013, which includes a library, a museum and a magnificent auditorium. Among his most important creations are the London Aquatics Center, where the London 2012 Olympics took place and the Phaeno Science Museum in Wolfsburg.
Unfortunately, architect Zaha Hadid died at the age of 65 on Thursday 31 March of a heart attack, which she had in a hospital in Miami, where she was hospitalized for bronchitis. The sudden death left not only a great void, but also many unfinished works by Zaha Hadid. He worked in the City Life district of Milan, located in the Ex Fiera area, where one of the three towers is still under construction. It has also built the maritime stations of Salerno and Napoli Afragola, which, for now, are not finished.
In Italy the architect worked a lot, so much so that it is impossible not to mention the famous Maxxi in Rome, the Zaha Hadid museum inaugurated in May 2010, one of his most famous works in the world. Zaha Hadid was an exponent of the deconstructivism, has always loved unusual curves and volumes, which we also find in his majestic designs, just like the Maxxi. She was a member of the editorial board of the Encyclopaedia Britannica and, on her work at the Guggenheim in New York, she even received the honor of a retrospective of her own.
She has always been considered the queen of architecture and forms, she had a great sense of style, so much so that she ended up in the Guardian’s list of the 50 most elegant people on the planet, and she also appeared in the ranking of the 100 most powerful women in the world Forbes in 2008.
